Named "Best DJ" in the City Paper's Best of Baltimore 2002, DJ Lil' Mic is one of the most well-known and sought after deejays. At only age 24, Lil' Mic has established a reputable career, accomplishing more than just spinning two turntables and a mic. He has made his mark as an artist, proving that his place in the Hip-Hop industry has been secured, and that this "young dynamo" (as the City Paper called him) is only getting better with age. Lil' Mic was born into a musical family, which explains his natural ability to please the ears of the masses. He began his musical career at the tender age of two playing records in his crib, when most children were unable to even pronounce the word 'Hip-Hop'. He would listen faithfully to Hip-Hop stations WWIN and WEBB with DJ Spin and the Numarks. At the age of six, he began to beat on pots and pans like most children his age; however, his parents bought him his first drum set after they noticed his innate ability to "rock the house". Ready to start mastering his craft at the age of 12, DJ Lil' Mic called local station WEAA about interning for its legendary Strictly Hip-Hop show. Determined to jump-start his career, he disobeyed curfew to intern for the show from 12 am-5 am. This is where he met his first love: music, in the form of Hip-Hop. He was given the opportunity to showcase his talent on air when DJ Marky B was unable to spin during the show. Always prepared for when the opportunity came, DJ Lil' Mic was equipped with his mix tape that would enable him to start mixing on-air. Upon entering high school, he began making and distributing mix tapes, without having a proper deejay name. The former production manager at WEAA saw the overwhelming talent that Lil' Mic possessed. Shortly after, the production manager suggested the name "DJ Lil' Mic", because he was unquestionably one of the youngest in charge. His recent mix CDs, which are released on a very frequent basis and can be found in numerous stores and websites, have been met with consistent praise and demand. Hosts for these Hip Hop, R&B, and Reggae joints have included Lil' Mo, Wayne Wonder, and B-Rich. Today, still living up to his name, DJ Lil' Mic can be heard on WEAA 88.9 FM in Baltimore, Maryland on Strictly Hip-Hop, which airs Friday nights from 12am-5am as well as the Friday Night Jazz Club which airs Fridays from 8pm-12am with Dj Lil Mic's Neosoul Mix on @ 11pm. On XM Satellite Radio, he can be heard coast-to-coast spinning Hip Hop and Reggae on Channel 67, "The City". Previously, Lil' Mic held down every Friday night, alongside DJ Quicksilva, on the now defunct X105.7 FM. DJ Lil' Mic is equally in demand in the clubs. Mic can also be found spinning at various venues in Baltimore, Washington, and other cities, as well, including shows as part of Jive Record recording artist Raheem DeVaughn's band. Last year, Mic was invited to be part of 4.5.6. Sound-alongside Supa Funk Regulata DJ Celo, DJ Bee, DJ DJ Blaze, Supa B, Ras Webster and Curly Locks -the Mid Atlantic's premier sound. DJ Lil' Mic is, without a doubt, a master in his craft and a true artist. With such success under his belt at such a young age, the best is yet to come. www.djlilmic.com
